Wow its been too long since I last blogged!

So whats been going on?
- I’ve moved interstate
- I’ve moved into my new house
- I’m sharing the house with three other lovely people
- I’m making new friends (yay!)
- We all share a love for parties and dancing on the lounge room table
- I’m loving my new job, but the fulltime-ness is killing me!
- Its quite cold already, so I’m stocking up on warm winter goodies, like woolen tights!

And so I leave you with this lovely picture of Canberra taken from a nearby mountain and the promise that I will try and blog more often

The wallet

Common sense says that if you use an item many times a day, use it to protect many precious things by being durable and accommodating, while being nice to look at and filling that empty space perfectly, then you would spend good money to get one that is decent, long-lasting and of superior quality. An investment piece as some may call it.

Yeah, sorry but I’m cheap and as long as it does the job and makes me go ‘ooh!’ when I see it for the first time (and many times after that) then I’ll take it thank-you, sir.

You have no idea what I’m on about do you?

Ok, I’m talking about wallets purses etc. My best friend has used a gorgeous little Mimco wallet for three years which is as lovely looking as the day she bought it. I could never have a wallet like that. I enjoy wearing them down and making them fall apart because I get tired of their ‘Ooh!’ness and I love buying new ones. I simply cannot justify spending $200 on soft leathery goodness sometimes.

Exhibit A began life as a pretty green Crocodile leather wallet from Broome. It’s now got a brown tinge and the inside pocket is ripped.

Exhibit B is probably my most favourite wallet, but the tail began to fall off and my coins fall through a hole in the stitching.

Exhibit C is my current wallet, its a men’s Kenneth Cole Reaction wallet that I picked up for $20. Simple, black, soft but structured, and plain. Love at first sight. So far, this one is going strong and I don’t see it falling apart anytime soon unfortunately.

As much as I love classic items I can wear/use for years, sometimes its the poorer quality things that make me happy.

The obligatory ‘whats in your bag?’ post

A bloggers life is never complete unless they have blogged about what is in their bag. I know you’ve all done them (and if you haven’t, get to it!) but its about time I did mine. Enjoy!

The bag: a pretty blue studded Oroton tote which was a gift from some lovely friends for my 21st. You can also see my favourite keyring from a trip to Paris a few years ago.

Inside: Prescription glasses for driving, Sportsgirl sunnies, Kenneth Cole wallet, Oroton purse which holds my lipgloss, mini sunscreen, bandaids etc., lip shaped coin purse, car keys and nokia phone.

The first week

Currently sitting on my top floor balcony looking out over the pool….But only because its the only place in the apartment what picks up wifi…Currently there is a strong cold wind and I’m rugged up in a ~~snuggie~~ dressing-gown. Apart from the weather, I’m loving it! There is everything I’ll ever need within a 15 minute drive, including the airport and an outlet shopping centre where I picked up this pretty dress.

Dress: Valley Girl, tights: Voodoo, shoes: Chic Naturel.

P.S. Move went ok with a few nasty hiccups…I’ll be happy to recount the tale (inc. name and shame) of the removal company’s issues should there be any problems when my furniture finally gets delivered into my new share-house…

This is an automated post set to appear as I’m driving the 8 hour journey from Melbourne to Canberra. All my furniture is in the removal truck, my car is stuffed with all the essentials I’ll need for the next few weeks before I get into long-term accommodation. Unfortunately my dear Ping is not coming with me. He is to stay here in Melbourne with the family. I will miss him so much…

P.S. Until I get into my new share house I will have no internet, posting will be limited to free time I have which may be spent at McDonalds because they have free WiFi!

I just stumbled across Emma Watson’s new line for People Tree. People tree aims to provide fashionable fair-trade clothes. Emma’s line is organic and reasonably priced. Now, if only they shipped to Australia…

The hat and the shoes

So yesterday was Australia Day. I’m not very patriotic and try not to be too bogan, you’ll never see me sporting a flag as a cape or a southern cross tattoo. But I do love the day off and a good barbecue! I went to Amanda’s house which was nice to escape the packing up of my life to visit friends. Unfortunately, I forgot my awesome hat and am now very sunburnt. Not good.

Today I’ve been going though and packing up all my clothes. Who knew I had so many? And I regularly clean out my closet. Its all stuff I wear often and love dearly.

Hat: Rip Curl, top: Valley Girl dress attacked by scissors, jeans: Sportsgirl, shoes: Wittner.

These jeans started off tastefully ripped..Now my leg can fit through the hole in the knee…I know this because I put them on in the dark… *sigh* Need to find a patch of some sort.

This time next week I will be living in Canberra! Unfortunately, moving house means packing up everything and putting it all in marked boxes, hoping it doesn’t go missing and hoping that you can set everything up again just the way you had it. This can be difficult. I’ve tried to solve this dilemma by taking pictures of everything just the way it was.

I thought I’d share my bedroom wall with you all:

The blue dress

I saw this gorgeous blue dress outside a shop which I try to avoid like the plague. It’s cheap, its nasty…Its frequented by girls with dirty orange fake tan, inch thick makeup and general nastiness. I once witnessed an altercation in this store and vowed never to set foot in there again…) It went something like this:

Girl with council estate facelift and horrendous fake (because I don’t think they make real ones) Louis Vuitton tracksuit walks up to group of 12yr olds. I was safety hidden behind a rack of fluoro slogan t-shirts.
Tracksuit girl: Oi! Are you the bitch whats been bitch slappin’ bitches?
12yr old: Oi what are you sayin’ bitch? I ain’t been bitch slappin’ no bitches.
Security guard: Oi! What’s going on here eh?
Tracksuit girl and 12 year old together: Oi nothin’ bro
Tracksuit girl exits stage left. And everything goes back to normal.

I saw this dress on a rack out the front, grabbed it, checked for fake tan marks, bought it for $15 and left as soon as I could to avoid detection. I tried it on when I got home and loved it! I was also pleasantly surprised when I saw its swing tag that said it had been made in Australia. For reals? I always try to buy Australian made when I can, but its hardly ever affordable to do so on a student budget.

So I was outside today with dear Ping. We have to supervise him so he doesn’t climb over the fence and get stuck. He gets stuck doing a lot of things…He gets so excited when he’s outside. He chases the dog. He dives under bushes (gets stuck) and rolls around in the dirt. And he runs. Oh, does he run.

I snapped this picture with my new Canon ixus 100is. I was trying to test how well it took motion shots. And it did well! My old camera, a dodgy Kodak, was good at closeups and motion shots but nothing else. The Canon is a good all-rounder.
