A story of water, pants and lips

So I was out to dinner with a friend the other night. It's a restaurant we often frequent. It's one of those trendy places with loud house music, contemporary furniture and only seems to hire waitresses who can walk in 4 inch heels and young men who enjoy wearing tight pants.

Anyway, so there we were at our table perusing the menu. The tight-pants waiter asked us if we would like some drinks and I ordered some water. Sparking or still? Still thank you.

A few minutes later the water arrived. Tight pants waited asked if tap water was ok? That's fine thanks. And so he poured my glass.

Just before taking a sip of the tap water, I noticed a smudge on my glass, and whispered to my friend:

Me: Does that look like...a lip mark to you?
Friend: Ewww...It must be a pretty big lip!
Me: Yeah, it is a little big for your normal lip, but it's got like, lip lines and everything
Friend: Hmmm....How strange
Me: Indeed...I'll ask for a new one when he comes past-

Before I could even finish my sentence, tight pants waiter suddenly appears looking shocked.

TPW: IS THAT LIPS?
Me: O_O Um...Yes
TPW: *grabs glass* I'll get you new one! *runs off*
Me and friend: WTF OMG LMAO

The End.

It doesn't matter that it's for ages 4 and up, I could still play it when I'm 99!
It doesn't matter that Hippos don't come in pink, orange, green or yellow, but life would be more exciting if they did.
It doesn't matter that Hippos don't eat plastic white balls. Well they might... I haven't bothered to research Hippopotamus diets.

It's the best game ever invented!

Now, If only I had 3 friends to play to with...

Hungry, Hungry Hippos

What's your favourite game?

On Saturday night I attended a 21st party for a friend of mine. It was fancy dress, preferably costumes that started with H. Being the fan girl that I am, I whipped out my Hermione Granger outfit and was all set! I knew that time turner would come in handy one day...

Robe: HP licensed merchandise
Shirt: Vila
Skirt: Gail Sorronda for Target
Socks: Sportsgirl
Shoes: Corelli
Time turner: HP licensed merchandise

What would you have dressed up as?

A story of picnicing

Melbourne weather hates me! But that's ok. I had planned to have my birthday party today at a local park. It was a picnic you see. Unfortunately, it started raining last night and didn't stop until later today so the park was a tad flooded.

Never fear, for my lounge was the next best option! It was just like a normal picnic too- the picnic rug was on the floor, there were paper plates for food, balloons and cake. But there was also an oven to heat up food, a fridge to cool down drinks and a cat to attack your feet.

It was a small group of six, and we managed to break a corkscrew, (just a small thank you from my Mum to Amanda for getting a new one!) up-end a few glasses, cover the cat in soap bubbles and generally have a good time. There was 'Pin the tail on the donkey', which consisted of a donkey drawn on an old supermarket catalogue and a tail made up of a Hello Kitty phone charm and some random moments of balloon volleyball. We also attempted to put a party hat on the cat, but that didn't quite work.

All in all, a good day!

A list of achy breaky thumbs

I'm now 20! Yay!

Things you may find difficult if you injure your thumb:

- Starting your car. Next time you get in, try and start it with the other hand., Awkward much?
- Opening tins of tuna. Massive ouch.
- Unbuttoning buttons and unzipping zips. A bonus 5 points if you're in the heat of passion, lose 5 points if you're in a rush to use the toilet.
- Texting. Place phone on flat surface and pretend it's a keyboard.
- Using as hair straightener. Like really...
- Carrying shoe boxes. You know how they have those holes in the front where you place your thumb to ensure a sturdy hold...
- Attaching the dog's lead...
- Walking the dog. Do I have a death wish?
- Turning the pages of a magazine. It shouldn't be that hard!
- Using a clasp on a necklace. Impossible. Just you try and prove me wrong.

As you may have guessed, I hurt my thumb today. It suddenly exploded (hey, it's my birthday, I'm allowed to exaggerate) with pain as I carried a roller door post into the stockroom at work today. It aches and I can't bend it. Woe is me.

On the other hand (no pun?), using a mouse is awesome. It seems to act as a brace and makes my thumb smile.

A story of skirts and socks

Well, I failed at sticking to my list.

I didn't manage to buy shampoo and conditioner (but thanks Mum), I didn't walk the dog, and I didn't finish the skirt until Wednesday...Having stayed up till 3am the night before working on it.

The skirt came out reasonably well, and I had plenty of help from my feline friend. Mr Ping took time out of his daily snoozes to role around and attack my scissors. He does like scissors, but he loves lace.

So, with the skirt finally complete, I was ready to be a lady. I wore stockings, but they turned into socks. I politely thanked the drunk man who admired my socks (three times no less), and I didn't get drunk, nor did I walk in bare feet while carrying my shoes when my feet got sore.

I was a proper lady, and my mother is proud. Pity the general atmosphere was not on par with my sophisticated façade.

Blazer: Valley Girl
Top: Supre (It was the only top I could find where the colour matched perfectly!)
Skirt: My own creation ^_^
Stockings/socks: Alannah Hill
Shoes: Miss C'est Bon
Bag: Corelli
Necklace: My own creation

In an effort to make myself do things, I write lists. Lists are wonderful. I love lists. Let me share this week's list:

Monday:
Buy shampoo & conditioner
Drive to park & walk dog
Cut pattern pieces for skirt, cut material & begin sewing

Tuesday:
Get petrol
Go to work
Go out to lunch
Finish sewing skirt

Wednesday:
Go out to breakfast
Go to work
Go to pre-Oaks day dinner

Thursday:
Go to Oaks day and pretend to be a classy lady

Friday:
Turn 20
Try not to groan about end of teenage life
Go out to dinner

Saturday
Work

Sunday
Work some more

So, as you can see, I don't have much on. I'm sewing a skirt for my Oaks day outfit which I will discuss in more detail when it's finished. And, I'm getting older.

So I'm kinda caught up with finishing my last assignment of the year! It's 2500 words and I have to get it done by Friday...Wish me luck! I'll catch up with comments and emails after then.

I handed in another assignment today and went to lunch with a friend at our local shopping centre. Of course, we had to work off the lunch by doing a quick shop at Myer- it must have some kind of force field around it that just draws people in?

Anyway, so I forced myself away from buying three pairs of shoes, and settled on a pair of socks.

Socks: Simon de Winter
Shoes: Rubi

I was out with my mother tonight for dinner at a cute little italian restaurant. But that has nothing to do with my story.

Anyway, after the restaurant we were heading back to my car when we stumbled upon a palm reading machine. You know those things...It was kinda scary putting my hand in something like that, as though it was about to be chopped off. So it read my palm and gave me some information which I shall show you in quote boxes of awesomeness.

You often show artistic or cultural interests.
Why yes, yes I do.

You prefer to enrich yourself spiritually rather than work hard to acquire material wealth.
I quite like the spirituality and the wealth actually...Can't I have both?

You don't have much faith in human nature.
Ye know me too well!

You will accumulate considerable wealth thanks to profitable investments and your own entrepreneurial skills.
Um... I believe you have confused me with Amanda and her skills of win? My savings account is hardly considerable and I can't even pronounce entrepreneurial.

As long as you achieve your ambitions you don't care about anyone else's feelings.
No one stands between me and Tom Felton! No one!

You tend to dissipate your energy and lose the concentration you need to think effectively.
Apparently, I need more caffeine.

Life: 6
Love: 5
Luck: 3
Health: 8
Sex: 7

WTF? My sex life is non-existent!

Yay for palm readings and their accuracy ^_^

Don't you hate it when technology fails you?

I haven't been able to send any text messages for the last week...My phone has just sent them all out in one big lump.

I dropped my camera down the stairs earlier today...I think it's dead.

It's taken me a few hours to be able to blog, because the server has issues.

It's a love-hate relationship. I should probably go and back-up some assignments now.

It's been a while! I'm been busy doing everything but blogging...not good, not good at all.
But! As all my subjects this semester are assignment based, I don't have exams and so the sooner I finish those assignments, the sooner I finish my subjects. I've finished off one subject this week, and will finish a second tomorrow. Then I just have 3 more assignments to complete in the next three weeks and I'm done!

So, what's been going down in Alexandraland recently? Homework, sleeping, classes, trying to think up topics to blog about, you know, the usual....Hmm...Let's list this weeks embarrassing moments! That always makes a good topic.

I attempted to park in a very busy underground car park in the city, only to be told they only accepted cash and didn't have an ATM nearby >_<

I had to lock some doors at a store I don't usually work at...And spent 20 minutes trying to turn the knob the wrong way.

I managed to flash a group of high school aged boys when the wind blew my white dress up. It was totally Marilyn Monroe style, without the stylish factor.

I made a really long, loud noise in a public toilet...Then walked out of the stall and bumped into a friend,

I discovered how slippery my shoes were when I accidentally did the splits while walking to class.

Oh the shame! I'm so glad this week is over!

Let's have an outfit...Check out my cat's terrible posture..It makes him 10 times cuter!

A story of surprise layers

I love surprises. They're fantastic. Not the bad kind, where someone sneaks up on you and almost makes you wet yourself from fright, but the nice kind. I like the kind that you get at Christmas and on birthdays. The wrapped kind to be precise. When I was younger, the highlight of all birthday parties would be a game of pass-the-parcel. All those layers of paper, with each layer holding something surprising. And at the centre, was the biggest surprise of all!

I wish it was still a popular game at 20th birthdays!

Anyway, so a few months ago I bought a packet of sanitary pads (yay for womenly stuffs) which came with a $20 voucher for the sleepwear brand Peter Alexander. It's really not my kinda thing. I'm a big t-shirt sleepwear kinda girl. I don't value $70 nighties. However, I was in need of a new compact mirror, even when priced at $14.50. So, the voucher covered the mirror and half the shipping. $3.50 for a compact? Sure, why not.

It arrived the other day, thanks to my lovely postman who was only slightly frightened of our dog. It's a lovely light green shade and has a brushed steel look with a strange synthetic coating. It's all smooth and shiny and green and...yeah.

I had my camera at the ready to document the unwrapping. Even the cat thought his reflection looked spiffy in it's shiny mirrors.

Today, I did a brief spot of shopping with my mum and came across a Michael Kors watch for 50% off at Myer. I'm a unique looking watch kinda girl, and had been after something squarish for a while now. Circular watches get boring and my current wrist watch is losing it's silver plating.

One of the best things about watches is that they come in layers: A watch in a box in a box in a bag. It was love at first sight!

Speaking of love at first sight, this was my favourite outfit for the week:

Bolero: Imagination
Dress: EF Collection (?)
Socks: Sportsgirl
Shoes: Gorgeous Shoes

A story of cinema space

On Friday night I went out with a friend for dinner and then to the cinema to see 'Step Brothers'. It wasn't on my list of things to see but I thought I may as well give it a chance. I'd have much rather seen WALL-E for it's cuteness. Now, I don't know whether I simply wasn't in the mood for this sort of comedy or whether it was the environment of the cinema which ruined it. Perhaps it was just crap?
My experience certainly wasn't helped by the fact that it was a packed cinema, and I had a random woman next to me who really liked her space and her extra large bucket of popcorn. She was the sort of person who drapes her arm over the arm rest next to you so that her hand is dangerously close to your thigh. The sort that believe leg room is made to be shared with the two people on either side. The sort that like to make comments while exploding with laughter at odd intervals.

I don't know about you, but 'Oh surely not!' 'Ewwww that's sooo gross' and 'This is unbelievable' can be slightly off putting when you're trying to watch something. Perhaps this was the reason I was the only one in the cinema not laughing? Well, I was using all my brain power to will her to choke on her popcorn.

What's your worst cinema experience?

Whenever I finish a particularly difficult or long assignment, I like to have a day off. I go to classes of course, but as soon as I get home I relax. How do I relax? I sing along to loud music and I tidy my room. I love to organise. It's fun! No, really it is.

I decided to tackle my evening bag collection. It had gotten to the point where I was just shoving them in any spot they'd fit. Now, on my wardrobe shelf they're much nicer:

Then, it was time to do the shoes. I like to keep them in their boxes under my bed. They're usually in order, from boots to flats to low heels to high heels. Trouble is, I have over 50 pairs and begin to forget which is which. A friend suggested I put pictures of them all on the front of the boxes. Perfect!

I was so caught up doing that, that I forgot I had to go to class. I quickly changed out of my bumming clothes and ran off to catch some public transport. The highlight of my trip was having a random lady sitting next to me and humming along to her iPod which I gather was playing 'Don't Cha' by the Pussycat Dolls.

Today's outfit:

Basic cardigan by Cotton On
Top by an unknown designer. I picked it up in Santa Margherita, Italy last year.
Jeans from Sportsgirl
Sandals from Rubi Shoes.

I walk past a spot about twice a day, each time I go out. For the past few weeks, a bird has taken to swooping me. I don't know whether it just likes my hair or whether it has a baby birdies to protect from the ferocious looking girl...It just flies towards me, squawks twice, makes a clicking noise and flies away! It's a little scary.

Today, I walked past said spot 4 times. I must have looked really good today, or very angry. Perhaps I spelt of poached eggs? Who knows. Anyway, so as I was walking, I hear the flap of wings as it flies towards me, the two squarks, the clicking and then
BAM went the bird as it few into my head.
SHRIEK was the noise that came out of my mouth.
SCRATCH went its claws as it molested my beret.
WHOMP went my hand as I attempted to hit at away.
ROFL was what the workmen nearby did.

A story of friendly bargain hunting

Yesterday, I met up with Amanda again! We planned an excursion to the local shopping centre and to then check out a few wholesale outlets. It was a day of fun, strange antics, and the odd bit of singing. It was a great success in terms of bargains scored as well! See below for more details :P

Two Fine Lines bras (beige & black) for $12.50 each! Originally $44.95.

One men's hoodie (for bumming around the house in comfort) for $10! Originally $30.

One JAG pendant necklace for $8.70! Originally $34.95

One pair of Nude Footwear heels, which are incredibly comfy and feature a lace up velvet bow. They were $49.50! Originally $149.95.

We took advantage of a promotion the shopping centre was running, and scored free manicures thanks to Priceline! I got mine painted black...Fierce!

A few weeks ago, i bought a pair of cheap Gladiator sandals from Rubi Shoes and scored a $20 voucher to use. At the centre we were at, they had Rubi shoes combined with Cotton on for added convenience. I'd had my eye on a copied pair of these Chloé shoe boots in cream, but as they'd been reduced to $25 from $49.95, I couldn't use my voucher on them. I grabbed a thin white cardigan instead for $19.95, then the sales assistant told me they had an offer for 2 for $20! So, shoe boots for $25 plus two free cardigans!

So that was the end of the shopping centre buys. After a quick stopover at McDonalds for an energy boost, we popped over to Ikea where I grabbed a soft black blanket for my bed. It's still a bit cold at this time of year! It cost $8.95 and wasn't on sale.

We made our way to the Bardot factory outlet...It was wonderful.

I got myself a black silk mini skirt for $10! Originally $79.95

A grey-ish dip dye singlet for $20! Originally $59.95

A cream ruffled jacket for $30! Originally $99.95. Also, note the two white dots on the right of the picture...That was the cat being his strange self.

A pair of black leather skinny pants (to be fierce with my nails) for $100! Originally $249.95
These are pictured above with the cream shoe boots.

Lastly, we came across the warehouse sale for Sass where I discovered a little lace top for $5 and a little black lace shift dress, also for $5. They didn't have their original prices so I have no way of knowing what I saved

So, if we added up everything but the Sass clothes, I spent a total of $287.15. So, I guess I won't go shopping for a while...On the other hand, if I had bought everything at full price I would have spent $893.40! I like my discounts much more.

After a quick stopover at McDonalds for an energy boost, we popped over to Ikea where I grabbed a soft black blanket for my bed. It’s still a bit cold at this time of year! It cost $8.95 and wasn’t on sale.

We made our way to the Bardot factory outlet…It was wonderful.

I got myself a black silk mini skirt for $10! Originally $79.95

A grey-ish dip dye singlet for $20! Originally $59.95

A cream ruffled jacket for $30! Originally $99.95. Also, note the two white dots on the right of the picture…That was the cat being his strange self.

They didn’t have their original prices so I have no way of knowing what I saved

So, if we added up everything but the Sass clothes, I spent a total of $287.15. So, I guess I won’t go shopping for a while…On the other hand, if I had bought everything at full price I would have spent $893.40! I like my discounts much more.

It's the 1st of September today! Do you know what that means? Do you? Do you? Really?
Yes, it's SPRING TIME!

Sun, warmth, flowers, bees, delightful smells, skirts, shorts, sandals, birds singing, hair bleaching, improved mental health, fields of daisies, sheep roaming green grassy paddocks, the beach, warm nights, evening walks, bike riding, swimming, malting cat furs, sunglasses, picnics in parks, ducks to be fed, 20th birthdays to be had!

Yes, it's my favourite time of year. What's yours?

I think some of my clothes are getting jealous of each other. There's a bit of preferential treatment going on in my closet. Some, I stand on with my smelly feet, most I spill small specks of chocolate on. Very few, are items that I treasure so much that I actually look after them.

Take last night for example...It was late when I got home and I was ready to fall asleep right then and there. I was ready to let my mind drift away to picturesque wonderlands of sunshine, chocolate, Harry potter and Jude Law...But wait! I cannot give in! For I am wearing fabulous clothes worthy of more than such reckless behaviour!

So, off came my lovely heeled shoes and into their box they went. Off came my designer leggings, and into their fancy container they went. Off came my silk blouse (I swear I'm not detailing a strip show here) and up on it's hanger it went. My basic cotton top and plain skirt? Too bad, they were cheap, they're durable, they're a bit plain...they'll live...And off I went to my land of wonderfuls for a good night's sleep.
