You want the steak that’s in the deal and which is not available on the regular menu so you decide to order that and then you randomly select an entree because none of them look appetizing anyway. I selected the battered fish…</p> <p>And then you end up with a bucket of battered Whitebait.</p> <p>Hey UK, it’s called Whitebait because where I come from, we use it as bait. Bait to catch big, edible fish. Not fish that are as big as your finger and served whole, eyes and all. That’s disgusting.</p> <p>So there I am stuck with a bucket of baby fish which are staring at me with their dead eyes. I can’t just not eat any, but I can’t eat any! So next best thing…make it look like I ate some!</p> <p>There was no where to sneakily hide them. I couldn’t just throw a few over my shoulder or stuff them in a napkin into my handbag (they smelt so bad!).</p> <p>My dear friend devised a foolproof, cunning plan. Beneath the bucket was a plate and a napkin. We removed the napkin and place an even layer of fish across the plate. Then we covered the fish layer with the napkin and put the bucket back on top. We even cut up a few fishies and placed them on my friends plate for good measure.</p> <p>The kitchen staff wouldn’t suspect a thing right?</p> <p>Wrong. You talk to the policemen and they tell you that HRH Prince Charles and his dear Camilla will shortly be appearing during a military parade to support some of Scotland’s troops who have just returned from Afghanistan. </p> <p>So I hung about and scored a spot at the very front of the barrier wedged between two older dears. We all watched as they did a sweep of the street, checked for bombs in a postbox. We all loled when the protective services men nearly took out a cyclist who’d managed to get into the exclusion zone as Charles walked out.</p> <p>And then four jets performed a fly over, and members of the army, navy and air force marched by while Charles saluted, and then back into the palace he went.</p> <p>And everyone clapped and cheered.
